Excel features many formatting tools. Among these are bold, italics, underline, borders, font types, font colors, number types, etc. When properly used, these formatting tools can significantly enhance the readability of an accounting worksheet. For example, earlier in this chapter the italics option was used to distinguish journal entry explanations from the account names within each entry. As we often complete Excel worksheets to summarize information for others, enhancing their readability will allow the end user to more quickly identify important information within the worksheet.
