Null Hypothesis Vs Quantitative Communication Research Analysis Excel Task

COMPARING MODELS TO ASSESS THE RESEARCH PROBLEM

In this SLP you will use statistical tests and graphics to determine if measures are significantly different across some specified criteria. Since your research is focused on one firm, you will be testing across relatively small sets of data. With such small sets of data, the tests do not assume normality that is required of parametric statistics. In parametric statistics, samples are drawn from a population so as to make generalizations from that population. For the tests you are doing in your dissertation, you will use small sample t-tests and visualizations.

For the United Way, this spreadsheet shows the donations across 14 of their major corporate partners. The donations are broken out by gender. Not only are they interested in the total gifts from each firm but also the break-out by gender and the average per person donation. Here is an image of the clickable spreadsheet shown in Figure 7.

Using the secondary data for your selected firm, produce an analysis that compares some key criteria to show the selected areas of focus in your research on your firm. This analysis will help you to show the importance of your research question for this firm and set the stage for the qualitative research you are about to undertake.

Produce a spreadsheet with associated graphs, also provide a page or two to discuss this data analysis and the conclusions you have drawn. Add this to the growing work you have on the Background for the firm you are studying. By integrating this work into your Background section, you will have completed an important addition for the appendix of your Dissertation. So be sure that you put together all five SLPs that tell the story of why you selected this firm for your Dissertation and how your analysis supports the importance of the work you will be doing on this dissertation research.

Your assignment will be graded using the following criteria:

Assignment-Driven Criteria: Student demonstrates mastery covering all key elements of the assignment.

Neoclassical and Romantic styles

The extravagance of the Baroque style was followed by the contrasting Neoclassical ideas that coincided with the so-called Age of Enlightenment (or the Age of Reason), which promoted a more realistic, scientific approach, as well as the separation of church and state. Neoclassical art emphasizes simplicity and symmetry, and it draws its roots from the aesthetics of Ancient Greece and Renaissance Classicism. What may sound surprising is Neoclassicism co-existed with Romanticism during the first half of the 19th Century. The Romantic style was defined by attention to emotion rather than reason, and gravitation to the past (medieval themes), though the French Revolution also brought the glorification of heroism, which is not unreasonable since the expression of strong emotion was welcomed. In our current Case assignment, we are going to compare a Neoclassical work by David, titled Oath of Horatii, and a Romantic work by Delacroix, titled Liberty Leading the People.

Write a 3- to 4-page paper in which you provide brief information about the Neoclassical and Romantic styles with a reference to differences in world view (reason vs. emotion); an abbreviated biographical background on the artist; a brief description and interpretation of the two works; and your opinion on how David and Delacroix differently conveyed their views on the Revolution (both works carry revolutionary ideas).

Abstract Expressionist work by Jackson Pollock

In this Case Assignment, we will be comparing an Abstract Expressionist work by Jackson Pollock, One: Number 31, with a work that represents the Pop Art style by Andy Warhol, Campbell’s Soup Cans. Take a look at the images by clicking on the links below before you continue. Just as the name indicates, often the focus of a Pop Art work is a casual (as opposed to elitist) subject. In our example, Warhol’s object can be found in any grocery store. Abstract Expressionism gained major recognition after WWII. Just as the name indicates, it does not depict any specific subject or human figure. Some scholars attribute that rejection of specificity to the horrors of the war. Although our two works could not be more different, they both represent the reality of post WWII America.

Pollock can be viewed as championing “the role of the artist,” as his art seems a pure abstraction of his body movements and his handling of the paintbrush, whereas Warhol seems to not have any real connection to the making of his art, as he upholds everyday, mass-produced objects in 1960s America as subject matter for high art. Write a 3- to 4-page paper in which you provide information about Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, with a brief reference to the place of art and artist in society; abbreviated biographical background on the artists; brief description and interpretation of the two works; and your personal opinion on how Warhol and Pollock differently represent post WWII America, shaped by global capitalism, diversity, consumer culture, and mass media, in their respective works.
